Staying organized and upholding a strong routine will assist you in remaining healthy and balanced. I have wrestled with this recently, as I have become quite occupied. I have, however, commenced developing a list of habits I will consistently strive to maintain.

One of the most crucial steps in sustaining sobriety is establishing clear boundaries. Notify colleagues, clients, and industry contacts that you refrain from drinking, and remember that you don’t need to offer an explanation. A straightforward, “I don’t drink, but I’d appreciate a water,” is typically enough. I personally avoid bars as much as possible. It’s not merely the alcohol in the setting, but witnessing others’ responses to alcohol, as it can evoke memories of when I drank.
Choose Networking Events Wisely
Real estate is full of networking events, many of which revolve around alcohol. Seek out or propose alternatives, such as coffee meet-ups, breakfast networking events, or industry seminars that emphasize education rather than socializing over drinks. If you find yourself at an event where alcohol is present, have a plan in place: bring a sober friend, hold a non-alcoholic drink, and be prepared with an exit strategy. If you’re comfortable with it, try a non-alcoholic beer to help fit in; however, sometimes those drinks can be triggering enough.
